A major feud between Sheamus and Rusev has reportedly been in the works for WWE RAW.
PWInsider reported that there have been “rumblings” within WWE about a program being planned between Rusev and Sheamus on RAW. Rusev returned to WWE on the RAW after WrestleMania 41, ending a five-year absence.
He made a huge impact by attacking Alpha Academy’s Otis and Akira Tozawa. On the May 5 episode of RAW, Rusev picked up a dominant win over Otis in his first match back. After watching his friend fall, Tozawa demanded a match against Rusev from Adam Pearce on this week’s episode of WWE RAW. Pearce, after warning Tozawa about the risk, made the match official for next week’s WWE RAW in Tampa, Florida.
Many fans expect Rusev to squash Tozawa in their upcoming match. Meanwhile, Sheamus, who also recently returned, has been busy dealing with A-Town Down Under’s Austin Theory and Grayson Waller. Since his comeback, The Celtic Warrior has defeated both Theory and Waller in singles matches.
The seeds for the feud have been already planted. During a backstage segment on last week’s RAW, Sheamus offered some motivational words, telling Tozawa to give Rusev hell once he’s cleared. The Celtic Warrior even referred to Rusev as a “hairy Neanderthal.”
