When you talk about the all-time greats of tag team wrestling, one cannot be without mentioning multiple-time Tag Team Champions Matt Hardy and Jeff Hardy, the Hardy Boyz. The Hardys have been wrestling for over two decades. There are a plethora of memorable matches and moments that the brothers have been a part of.
Recently, during an interview with WrestleZone’s Managing Editor Bill Pritchard, both Matt and Jeff Hardy shared some of their favorite matches that they’d like people to talk about more.
Matt Hardy reflected on the match against EC3. It was a Last Man Standing match and Hardy captured his second TNA World Heavyweight Championship.
“I’ll tell you one of my favorite matches,” Matt began. “I think both people in the match did such a great job at the way we executed everything, and also the outside pieces did as well. And that is when I won the TNA World Title for the second time from EC3 and we did a double turn. Where it was a Last Man Standing match and I bought Tyrus. Big Money Matt had bought Tyrus and my wife was involved.
“And we just, it was the whole big to-do. By the end of that match, starting the match I was getting cheered. He was getting booed. And by the end, it totally reversed. I was getting booed out of the building. And he was getting cheered. So, that’s one thing that I am really proud of. I think it’s very underrated. I don’t think it gets the credit it deserves.”
Matt Hardy also reflected on the Apocalypto Cinematic Match
“I think I’ll say one more. I think Apocalypto, whenever we did that at Total Non Stop Deletion. The match that aired from our house. It was a cinematic match where we invited all the tag teams in all space and time, like the Rock and Roll Express. We were this close, if the dates hadn’t have changed, the [Young] Bucks were going to be in it. But we had a whole bunch of tag teams that were in there. And we fought all over the Hardy Compound. We went to Cameron the City and shot there. And I think that is our best Cinematic match that we have ever done. In my opinion. and that’s a match I probably would love to see get more love than it does,” Matt added.
Jeff Hardy on which match he would like people to talk about more
The Charismatic Enigma shared that he always reflects on the first-ever tag team ladder match, as, according to him, the match changed the lives of the Hardys for the better.
“Yeah. And I always go back to the first-ever tag team Ladder match. Because all we had was really the Razor Ramon – Shawn Michaels Ladder match. That like changed my whole perception of wrestling and what a match could be. But that first-ever tag team Ladder match just changed our lives. I mean, for the better. That really… During that match, is when I was like, ‘Oh my God! We are on to something extremely great here,” Jeff Hardy said.
