Michael Cole comments on the controversy surrounding Corey Graves.
In January, Graves sparked some controversy with some since-deleted tweets in which he addressed his demotion to NXT and said he was not famous enough for his job. He was then absent from the following episode of NXT, but he returned the following week. Graves has remained part of the NXT commentary team ever since.
Speaking with Logan Paul on his IMPAULSIVE podcast, Michael Cole was asked about the situation.
“That’s a strange situation,” he said. “I love Corey. Love him to death. I still don’t understand all the dynamics of it. I know that he said something on social media that was pretty critical of the company. He tried to explain to everyone that he was trying to generate some interest and maybe a type of a storyline. I don’t think the company saw it that way. [Paul says it was not a work]. Right. Yes [it was a shoot], allegedly.
“Again, I think him and the company are working that out. I love Corey to death. He’s an unbelievable commentator. Beside [Pat] McAfee, he’s probably the best partner I’ve ever had.”
