Bryan Danielson: Swerve Strickland Was Incredible Every Step Of The Way, He Carried The Load

Bryan Danielson had nothing by kind words to say about Swerve Strickland after AEW All In.

The American Dragon but his career on the line at Wembley Stadium on Sunday. Bryan Danielson promised to retire if he failed to win the AEW Championship, with champion Swerve Strickland between him and his first title in AEW.

With his wife and two children in the front row, the former WWE Champion had the crowd in the palm of his hand throughout. He hit a running knee, LaBelle Lock and Regal Stretch to force Swerve to tap out.

This extended the new AEW Champion’s career, and ended Swerve Strickland’s title reign at 126 days and four title defences. Despite beating him in the main event of All In, Bryan Danielson had nothing but good things to say about the former champion.

The new AEW Champion spoke at the AEW All In Post-Show Media Scrum. He was asked where Swerve Strickland ranks among his best opponents, to which Bryan Danielson declined to give a ranking of “who is better than whom”, out of respect.

However, he called his opponent “incredible”, revealing that Swerve Strickland “carried the load” for the rivalry up until that point. Bryan Danielson went on to say he was an amazing world champion, and a wonderful human being.

“I don’t like to rank opponents in terms of who is better than whom.” Bryan Danielson told the audience. “Swerve is incredible at every step of the way. In terms of the build for this match, Swerve carried the load and did an incredible job.”

“He has been an amazing world champion, and I can’t speak highly enough about him as a wrestler, interviewer, and how he interacts with the press. He’s just so good and, overall, what a wonderful human being.”
