Bryan Danielson Wants To Disappear Into The Bushes Like Homer Simpson When He Retires

When Bryan Danielson retires, he wants to disappear.

At AEW All In, Bryan Danielson will challenge Swerve Strickland for the AEW World Championship. If Danielson loses, he will be forced to retire. Danielson has also made it clear that 2024 will be his last year as a full-time wrestler.

Speaking with TMZ Sports, Bryan Danielson was asked to share his thoughts on his potential retirement.

“I’d really like to just disappear,” he said. “At least from the public eye. What I’d really like to do is help the community, be involved in my kids’ lives, as far as my wife got to coach our son’s t-ball team last year, I’d love to be to do that this year. Those sorts of things, those are the kinds of things that I’m putting focus on and priority on.”

Bryan Danielson Refers To Homer Simpson Meme

Bryan Danielson then noted that he wanted to get out of the spotlight once his in-ring career was over. He referenced the Homer Simpson meme in which Homer silently disappears into the bushes and noted that that was similar to what he wanted.

“Claudio [Castagnoli] had just mentioned to me on Wednesday, when we were driving back to our hotel after Dynamite, he goes, ‘Bryan, whenever you’re done, I kind of hope I never see you again’ [laughs],” he said. “Then he added later, ‘I mean I’d love to come visit you at your house, far away from everybody. But I kind of hope that that’s it.’ Because I think he kind of knows that’s what I want, is to kind of disappear.

“There’s definitely benefits to being in the spotlight, but there’s a lot of trade-offs. I think sometimes if you experience mental health issues and stuff like that, being in the spotlight isn’t necessarily a good thing. So yeah. I’d like to just kind of retreat into the forest. I don’t watch a lot of TV, but I vaguely remember Homer Simpson, like he’s in the bushes, and he just slowly disappears, right [laughs]. That’s me, but into the woods.”

WrestleZone will have coverage of AEW All In as it airs on Sunday.
