Ric Flair’s Ring-Worn ‘Jungle Robe’ Sells For Six Figures At Auction

Ric Flair‘s match-worn robe has sold for a huge fee at auction recently.

The Nature Boy’s robes are some of the most iconic pieces of wrestling attire in history. He wore his bejeweled and colorful robes to the ring every night, usually with “The Nature Boy” emblazoned on the back.

The iconic look helped make Ric Flair a star. Without them, who knows if he would have become a 16-time World Champion and a two-time WWE Hall of Famer.

Now, one of the robes has sold for a huge amount of money. An auction on Goldin ended with one of Ric Flair’s robes selling for an astounding figure. The item in question was one of his “Jungle Robes”.

Goldin described the robe as “tan-shaded, fur-lined collar and sleeves, with an auburn belt, setting the tone for the jungle theme”. It featured a lion and two cheetahs on the front, further enhancing the jungle theme of the piece.

A photo proving it was Ric Flair’s accompanied the auction. They also noted it was the same style that Flair wore in the 1980s, during his battles with the likes of Dusty Rhodes.

In an auction that lasted between July and August, bids began at $50,000 and continued to rise. The final bid, which won the auction, came on August 18th. The total fee, which includes the buyer’s premium, was an eye-watering $103,700.

Ric Flair previously attended the Goldin offices. He appeared on Season 1, Episode 4 of the hit Netflix show, The King of Collectibles: The Goldin Touch. He identified a different robe of his that he had sold years prior.

This robe was previously featured on a season one episode of WWE’s Most Wanted Treasures on A&E. WWE/WCW referee Charles Robinson had it in his possession for many years. Flair and AJ Francis approached Robinson (on behalf of the show) to acquire the robe in order to trade it to the owner of Flair’s missing “butterfly” robe.

Robinson was initially hesitant but ended up trading the jungle robe for a gold ring-worn robe. The jungle robe was then traded to the owner (along with a pair of matching boots and $60,000) for the black butterfly robe.

Ric Flair Wants Charlotte To Break Record, But Is Okay To See John Cena Do It

Ric Flair is happy to see John Cena break his world title record, but would rather his daughter do it instead.

Speaking on Busted Open, Ric Flair was asked whether he had a problem with John Cena potentially breaking the world title record. He stated that he wanted it to be Charlotte Flair. But he noted that he would have no problem if John Cena did it.

“The honest to god truth, I think so much personally of John Cena,” Ric Flair said. “He’s one of those really great guys, in my opinion, and I’ve known a few. In a perfect world, it would be my daughter [Charlotte], which I think would be the biggest thing that could ever happen. I told her one time, she didn’t like the comparison, I said, ‘You’d be as famous as Serena Williams if you broke that record. It’s been there for so long.’

“She didn’t like the comparison, but she’s as good an athlete as there is alive today. But if they do it with John, I’d have no problem. I’d be the first one to hit the ring and shake his hand.”
