The second-ever time-limit draw in WWE Speed history happened on the latest episode of the show.
Montez Ford clashed with Austin Theory on the August 14 episode of WWE Speed. Both men were hoping to punch their ticket to the next round of the Number One Contender’s Tournament. Instead, they fought to a time-limit draw, so they were both eliminated.
Je’Von Evans was set to face the winner in the quarterfinals. Now, he will automatically advance to the semifinals. He awaits the winner of the other quarterfinal match, in which Pete Dunne will face Joaquin Wilde. The tournament winner will earn a title shot against WWE Speed Champion Andrade.
The Street Profits Target The Gold
Though Montez Ford’s quest to win the WWE Speed Championship is over for now, he will have the chance to earn another title shot. On the August 16 episode of WWE SmackDown, the Street Profits will face #DIY in a Number One Contender’s match to determine the next challengers for the WWE Tag Team Championship.
Ahead of the bout, Montez Ford, Angelo Dawkins, and B-Fab shared their thoughts. In a SmackDown exclusive, Ford made it clear that he wanted to remind everyone who they were.
“You know what, Byron? You’re right. We’ve manifested it, went out there and did what we always do. Find a way,” Montez Ford said. “And this time period, Dawks, the peaks and valleys, the highs and lows—it seems like we lost ourselves a little bit. Got a little stagnant. Stagnant to the point that people forgot who The Street Profits were. So, step by step, over the next couple of weeks, we’ll kindly remind you all exactly who we are. We’re no strangers to this field; you are.”
