Wes Lee explained his actions and issued a challenge for NXT No Mercy.
At the end of the August 6 episode of WWE NXT, Lee turned on Zachary Wentz and Trey Miguel. The betrayal came after Lee and Wentz unsuccessfully challenged Axiom and Nathan Frazer for the NXT Tag Team Championship.
On the August 13 episode of WWE NXT, Wes Lee came to the ring and discussed his actions. He noted that his actions shocked himself and the world. Lee said that Wentz let him down, much like he let him down when he got released in 2022. He recalled how everyone felt sorry for him and assumed he’d be a tag team guy. Lee stated that he worked hard to become a great NXT North American champion.
Lee noted that Wentz and Trey Miguel reunited and left him alone in NXT. He said that he alone achieved greatness. Lee said he was done being a caretaker. He noted that he was the one who kept everything together during their days as The Rascalz, and he was tired of taking care of Wentz. He said that he could not go where he wanted to go with his best friends riding his coattails.
Wes Lee’s Challenge
Lee also stated that he and Wentz would have a match, and NXT No Mercy would be a fitting place. He said that Wentz would learn that he was telling the truth, and he would show him no mercy when he beat the hell out of him. Lee then said that they could go back to TNA while he focused on bigger and better things like the NXT Championship. He went on to wish Wentz the best in his future endeavors.
Pete Dunne interrupted and made it clear that he had his sights set on the title. Joe Hendry came out and attacked Wes Lee to get revenge for Lee blindsiding him earlier in the show.
Wes Lee and Zachary Wentz, then known as Nash Carter, are two-time NXT Tag Team Champions together.
