Dr. Carlon Colker Denies Wrongdoing Involving Treatment Of Janel Grant

There has been a new update in the lawsuit against Vince McMahon.

Janel Grant, who previously filed a lawsuit against Vince McMahon, John Laurinaitis, and WWE, alleging sexual assault and trafficking, previously filed a petition against Colker for medical records, as her attorney claimed that Colker refused to tell her what substances and infusions she received at his clinic. Grant claimed that Vince McMahon directed her to seek treatment, and this petition sought evidence regarding the aforementioned lawsuit.

Brandon Thurston of Wrestlenomics reports that Dr. Carlon Colker and his Peak Wellness clinic filed a petition, looking to obtain evidence from Grant so he would have the basis for “defamation, tortious interference with business relations, and negligent and intentional inflation of emotional distress”. The compliant notes that Grant’s attorneys viewed the media attention that Grant’s petition received as the source of alleged defamation.

The complaint states that Grant is “engaging in a smear campaign against [Colker and Peak Wellness] in order to bolster her well-publicized allegations concerning alleged sex trafficking and sexual assault.”

Furthermore, Colker’s attorneys refute Janel Grant’s claim that Colker refused to explain the treatment and pointed to “undisputable and documented evidence to the contrary that Dr. Colker always advised and consulted in advance with Grant concerning any specific medications she was prescribed.” Additionally, this complaint states that Grant’s claim regarding Dr. Colker giving her “pushback” was “recklessly and harmfully false.”

Per Thurston, the filming could be seen as a precursor to a defamation lawsuit. Colker’s attorneys claim that Grant made “material misstatements and patent lies” about Colker and Peak Wellness, and their “devastating and potentially long-lasting effect” continues to impact their ability to keep practicing at a high level. Additionally, they claim that the harm done is “perhaps incalculable… but well over tens of millions of dollars.”

Colker’s petition also stated that Grant’s motion garnered widespread news coverage of what have otherwise be “a bland and un-noteworthy request for a bill of discovery.”

In the petition, Colker’s attorneys not that neither he nor Peak Wellness are defendants in Janel Grant’s lawsuit, and they are not involved in any investigations, while Vince McMahon is under federal investigation regarding Grant’s allegations.

It was also noted in the complaint that Grant’s petition flouted “the Federal Court Order”, which they called “a blatant attempt to besmirch the good name and reputation of Dr. Colker and Peak Wellness.”

Additionally, Vince McMahon’s attorneys argue that Grant violated the stay on the lawsuit by petitioning Colker. However, the judge ruled that Grant’s action in Connection state court was not a violation.

Vince McMahon’s Attorney Issues Statement

Thurston also provided a statement from McMahon’s attorney, Jessica Taub Rosenberg:

“Ms. Grant’s attempt to seek discovery in state court despite a stay in federal court exemplifies her consistently deceitful behavior and lack of integrity;” Rosenberg said, “we will, per the Federal Court’s order, continue to pursue a court order to stop her.”

Janel Grant’s Attorney Provides Comment

Likewise, Ann Callis, Grant’s attorney, gave the following comment:

“The court sided with Janel and against McMahon in confirming she was within her right to seek her own medical records and data from Dr. Carlon Colker of Peak Wellness.” Callis said. “It is perplexing, but on brand to file an attack against a woman formerly in his care.”

Thurston writes that Colker’s petition seems to obtain records from Grant’s phone, emails, and social media, as well as documents and communications related to Colker’s treatment of her. Additionally, Colker aims to depose Grant in response.
