A new Number One Contender’s Tournament is underway, and Je’Von Evans has advanced to the next round.
On the August 7 episode of WWE Speed, Je’Von Evans defeated Ashante “Thee” Adonis to advance to the next round. His opponent will be determined on the August 14 episode, where Montez Ford will take on Austin Theory.
The winner of that match will face either Pete Dunne or Joaquin Wilde, who will clash in the other quarterfinal. WWE Speed Champion Andrade will defend his title against the winner of the tournament.
WrestleZone will provide more information as it becomes available.
Je’Von Evans Wants To Make History
Meanwhile, Evans has his sights set on the gold in NXT. Speaking with Justin Barrasso of Sports Illustrated, he stated that he wanted to become the youngest NXT Champion of all time.
“I want to become the youngest NXT champion ever, so I’ve got to turn it up,” said Evans. “It’s time to go crazy and show something you’ve never seen before.”
Evans also reflected on his journey to WWE and recalled how he was grinding on the independent scene.
“Once I graduated, I started going crazy on the indies,” Je’Von Evans said. “All I wanted to get paid was a little money for food. I was grinding, and it paid off.”
