CM Punk thinks a match with Cody Rhodes or Seth Rollins would be a magical atmosphere.
The former WWE Champion came out of his grudge match against Drew McIntyre as the loser this week. The Scot pinned CM Punk at Summerslam 2024, thanks to the actions of special guest referee Seth Rollins.
Seth Rollins failed to count the pin fall when CM Punk covered Drew McIntyre. He got the visual win over his rival, and was furious with Rollins.
CM Punk spoke with SI Media With Jimmy Traina in the build up to Summerslam 2024. He was asked about potential match ups against Seth Rollins and Cody Rhodes in the near future.
The former AEW Champion said that if he did wrestle Cody Rhodes or Seth Rollins, neither man would have to turn heel. He compared them to The Rock vs Stone Cold Steve Austin, and would let the fans decide who they want to cheer in the match.
However, CM Punk joked at the end that “Cody would be 100% be the villain because everybody loves me”.
“This is the nicest thing I’ll probably say about Seth Rollins. I think if you put me and—when you get—when it’s Superstar versus Superstar, yeah right, if it’s Cody and Punk or if it’s Punk and Seth, I think that is the rare air magic where we get to let the fans just do whatever they want. You know what I mean? It’s just two strong personalities. You look back at how many times Rock and Stone Cold main evented WrestleMania. Can you tell me who the bad guy and who the good guy was, or was it just two icons? So I think in that situation, um, but of course Cody would 100% be the villain because everybody loves me.”
