WWE SmackDown Viewership Increases On 8/2 Against Olympics Coverage

WWE SmackDown saw an increase in viewership on August 2.

According to Wrestlenomics (via Programming Insider), SmckDown averaged 2.179 million viewers on Friday. The show drew a 0.60 rating in the 18 to 49 demographic. These numbers are up from last week’s episode when an average of 2.058 million viewers tuned in. The demo also rose from last week‘s episode, which drew a 0.52 rating in the same demographic. 

SmackDown was up against coverage of the Olympics on NBC, which averaged 13.1 million viewers and a 2.29 P18-49 rating.

What happened on WWE SmackDown this week?

This week’s show kicked off with a face-to-face between Cody Rhodes and Solo Sikoa. Their confrontation led to the Bloodline Rules stipulation being added to their match at SummerSlam.

Plus, Andrade picked up another victory over Carmelo Hayes, and Santos Escobar got Legado del Fantasmo back on track by picking up a win over Apollo Crews.

Elsewhere on the show, Alba Fyre and Isla Dawn retained their WWE Women’s Tag Team Titles over Bianca Belair and Jade Cargill thanks to interference from Blair Davenport, which resulted in the match ending in a DQ.

The main event of the show saw The Bloodline defeat DIY to win the WWE Tag Team Titles.
