Gunther crashed Damian Priest‘s live event ahead of WWE SummerSlam.
Gunther previously won the King of the Ring tournament and earned a shot at the World Heavyweight Championship. Damian Priest has retained the gold leading up to WWE SummerSlam, and the two stars will clash at the event. Heading into the show, their rivalry has heated up on WWE RAW. Gunther has insulted Priest, and they brawled at the end of the July 29 episode of WWE RAW.
WWE took to Twitter and shared a clip in which Gunther can be seen confronting Damian Priest at his “Damian Priest Live” event. He vowed to expose Priest for what he really was, “street trash.” Priest fired back and dared Gunther to fight him then and there. He called Gunther the definition of human trash. Priest then said he would leave Gunther as a loser at WWE SummerSlam.
Gunther On Facing Damian Priest
In a recent interview with Cameron Hawkins of The Ringer, Gunther discussed his upcoming match against Damian Priest. He was asked about the challenge that faced him at WWE SummerSlam.
“Well, if I win it, it’s going to be the greatest accomplishment of my career,” Gunther proclaimed. “It means that’s what it says, the ‘world’s heavyweight champion.’ I think that’s the highest prize, the greatest prize that there is to achieve or to win.
“We all do [this] to become a champion eventually one day and be on top and represent the company and be the face of a brand and be the face of professional wrestling to a certain degree. And that’s a big responsibility but also [a] big privilege. But that’s all secondary now, because I have a match on Saturday against Damian Priest, and that’s where my focus is.”
