AJ Styles Comments On Will Ospreay Using The Styles Clash

AJ Styles is not bothered about Will Ospreay using the Styles Clash.

The move was innovated by Styles, and has been used to great effect over the years. Styles has used it to win multiple titles, as he won world titles in WWE, TNA and NJPW.

However, the move is not without its controversies. Yoshi Tatsu and Lionheart both infamously broke their neck after taking the move. Although, that was largely down to them preparing for the move incorrectly. When executed correctly, it is one of the best-looking moves in wrestling.

Furthermore, Will Ospreay has used the move for a number of years. It is part of his wide arsenal of moves, many of which are taken from the numerous former top gaijan in NJPW. He has taken moves from the likes of AJ Styles and Kenny Omega, showing his appreciation for their work.

That is exactly how AJ Styles took it, at least. Tired of being constantly asked about Ospreay, who used an apron-variation of the move on MJF on Dynamite, he took to Twitter to dispel any myths about how he is feeling.

AJ Styles revealed that he wasn’t bothered by Will Ospreay using the Styles Clash. He said that everyone borrows moves from everybody else in wrestling. Additionally, he added that it shows appreciation for his work, and that wrestling involves taking moves you like and making them your own.

“Why do you think it bothers me that someone else is doing my move? We all do it. Its wrestling! I think if nothing else, it shows appreciation.”

Indeed, you would be hard-pressed to find any wrestler without some borrowed moves in their move set, including AJ Styles. You didn’t hear Danny O’Mahony complaining about people using an Irish Whip in every match.
