A new report provides an update on the long-awaited match between Drew McIntyre and CM Punk.
Drew McIntyre and CM Punk have been feuding throughout 2024. Punk suffered a torn triceps in the Royal Rumble match, and McIntyre said he prayed for the injury. Punk cost McIntyre the World Heavyweight Championship at WWE WrestleMania 40, and he also interfered in his title match at WWE Clash at the Castle. At WWE Money in the Bank, Punk stopped McIntyre from cashing in his Money in the Bank contract. This led to many fans buzzing about the two stars potentially clashing at WWE SummerSlam.
On Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer and Bryan Alvarez discussed the situation. Meltzer noted that the match was not 100%, but WWE is confident that it will happen. He stated that it was more than a hope, and it is now a plan. (H/t Ian Carey of F4WOnline.com)
McIntyre attacked Adam Pearce at the WWE Money in the Bank Post-Show, and Pearce said that decisions would be made regarding McIntyre and Punk.
WrestleZone will provide more information as it becomes available.
