Last night at the NXT Battleground Premium Live Event the NXT Women’s World Champion Roxanne Perez defended her title against TNA Knockouts Champion Jordynne Grace. After a hard-fought battle and thanks to some outside interference in the form of Tatum Paxley and Ash by Elegance, Perez retained her championship.
Following her victory, Sarah Schrieber caught up with Roxanne Perez to get her thoughts on her victory. The Prodigy questioned Schrieber by asking if she was surprised to see Perez retain her championship.
“Are you surprised? Tell me right now. Are you surprised? Of course. Of course, you are, aren’t you? Because everybody was surprised. But why? Why? I’m the Prodigy. There’s no one like me,” Roxanne Perez said.
As Perez was yelling at Schrieber, the Second City Saint CM Punk showed up and gave a piece of advice to the NXT Women’s World Champion.
CM Punk mentioned that Perez is holding the title was because she is better than every other female in the NXT and TNA rosters. But also claimed that Perez got lucky against the Juggernaut Jordynne Grace. He asked Perez to focus on her championship.
“Hold on. Just calm down one second. I’m sorry to bust in here. Listen, you’re the champion for a reason. You are head and shoulders above all of these women here. You are head and shoulders above all the TNA Knockouts,” CM Punk said.
“But tonight you got lucky, okay? I need you to focus on this. I need you to be who you are, I need you to be the Prodigy. You don’t need anything else,” CM Punk added.
Perez replied by sarcastically thanking Punk for his advice and also called him a hypocrite.
On Monday morning, Perez had more to say about the interaction. She noted that she already took that advice “in 2011” and shouldn’t be seen as the bad guy.
