This past weekend was the fifth anniversary of the AEW Doble or Nothing pay-per-view. As part of the Triple Main Event of the evening, AEW World Heavyweight Champion Swerve Strickland defended his championship against former AEW TNT Champion Christian Cage. Despite receiving help from Nick Wayne, Mother Wayne, and Kill Switch, the Patriarch was unable to dethrone the leader of the Mogul Affiliates.
During the post-show media scrum, Swerve Strickland praised his Double or Nothing opponent.
“Speaking of Christian [Cage], that man is a legend. That man is a competitor. He’s been doing this since I was a kid. I had a throwdown with him for 30 minutes, with that man. He proved he’s one of the best signings in AEW. But I proved I’m the best,” Swerve Strickland said at the post-show Media Scrum. [H/T Sportskeeda Wrestling]
Upon hearing what Swerve Strickland had to say, the former AEW TNT Champion had only one thing to say. Christian Cage mentioned that the current AEW World Heavyweight Champion does not make as much money as he does.
“He just don’t make as much,” Christian Cage tweeted.
