Tony Khan says Christian Cage has done the best work of his career in AEW.
Cage had a lengthy career in WWE, but he was forced to retire due to injuries in 2014. He then came out of retirement and signed with AEW in 2021. During his time with the company, he has won the TNT Championship twice. At AEW Double or Nothing, Cage will challenge Swerve Strickland for the AEW World Championship.
Speaking during the AEW Double or Nothing media call, Tony Khan was asked about the triple main event billing of the pay-per-view. During his response, he highlighted Christian Cage.
“I think Swerve Strickland is a great, great champion for AEW,” Khan said. “He has really done very well for us since winning the championship. He’s been involved in some major segments, had a great first defense of the title against Claudio Castagnoli on a really important episode of TV. Then we’ve got Christian Cage, who has been, in my opinion, an MVP of AEW television over the past year. What Christian Cage has done for the company is unbelievable.”
Tony Khan: The Hype Around Signing Christian Cage Was Justified
Tony Khan then stated that the hype surrounding signing Christian Cage was justified. He said that Cage had been doing the best work of his career in AEW.
“I absolutely believed that was what we were gonna get when we signed him, and I think it’s been proven right,” Tony Khan said. “I think Christian Cage is one of the best signings we’ve ever made in AEW. All the hype around his signing was very justified because he’s one of the greatest wrestlers in the world, and he’s done the best work of his career in AEW.”
Khan also referred to Cage as an all-time great.
