WWE Women’s Champion Bayley says she has to mend some fences with the fans following the end of her heel run.
At WWE WrestleMania 40, Bayley won the WWE Women’s Championship. She defended the gold against Naomi and Tiffany Stratton ay WWE Backlash France.
Speaking on WWE’s The Bump, Bayley discussed her successful defense. She described how she feels like she’s trying to “find” the relationship she had with fans before her heel run.
“I still feel like I’m trying to find my relationship with the fans again,” she said. “There are a lot of them that are like, ‘That’s our Bayley, she’s back. Let’s all be cool together again’. But I still feel that there are a lot of fences I need to mend with my fans, and to be accepted and appreciated in a crowd like that I was just so taken aback.”
Bayley has been back on the fans’ good side in recent months, and they welcomed her at WWE Backlash France by serenading her “Hey Bayley” chants. The champion joked that it made it hard to focus on the match.
“It was hard to even try to focus on the match at that point, you know? I kind of just wanted to party with everybody,” Bayley said.
