Jason Kelce Didn’t Know WrestleMania Plan Until 2 Hours Before The Show

Jason Kelce lifts the lid on the WWE’s backstage plans.

The Philadelphia Eagles legend was in attendance at WrestleMania 40 this month. He even got involved in the show, alongside fellow player Lane Johnson.

The pair ran in and attacked Dominik Mysterio during a tag team match on the show. They helped Rey Mysterio and Andrade win their match, before posing, à la Hulk Hogan in the ring in celebration with the pair.

Jason Kelce spoke on his New Heights podcast about his WrestleMania experience. He revealed that they didn’t know exactly what they would be doing until two hours before the show. Kelce knew he’d be on Rey Mysterio’s side for the match, but that was the extent of it.

“We knew that we were going to be involved with these masks, but we didn’t really find out the full extent until pretty much about two hours before the show. There’s like a little backstage area where you’re kind of figuring things out.”

“We knew we were on Team Rey [Mysterio], which they didn’t have to tell us. From there, it was just, you know, operation get it done.”

Jason Kelce Met The Rock Years Ago At NFL Practice

Later in the episode, Jason Kelce spoke about meeting The Rock. He talked about meeting The Rock years ago, when Kelce was with the Philadelphia Eagles years before.

“I’ve met him before, actually. He came to the Eagles facilities for training before one of the WWE events earlier in my career. He probably doesn’t remember that, but I do because I think everybody remembers when you meet The Rock for the first time, right? But it was awesome to see him again, obviously under different pretenses this time.”

“I’m just happy he’s back involved with WWE in a very meaningful way. He’s been such an explosive personality for the wrestling world. And obviously, he’s gone on to, I don’t want to say bigger and better things, but I mean, to become the superstar he is outside of the wrestling world. I think selfishly, everybody in the wrestling community is happy to see The Rock back, even if he’s talking smack to Jaylen and pissing off all of Philadelphia.”
