DDP Reveals The Origins Of Scott Hall’s Toothpick Flick

DDP has revealed the origins of Scott Hall’s legendary toothpick.

Hall, whether as himself or Razor Ramon, was famous for bringing a toothpick to the ring. He would keep it in his mouth, before flicking it to the camera in an iconic piece of 1990s imagery.

There had been tales about who had the idea, but it has now been all cleared up by one of his closest friends.

DDP spoke on A&E’s WWE’s Most Wanted Treasures about the origins of the iconic toothpick. The clip first showed Lita asking Cody Hall (Scott Hall’s son) about the story, before it cut to a talking head of DDP explaining the whole thing.

The former WCW Champion revealed that it was his idea. It came to him in a Waffle House, and intended for the pair to do it together on screen. However, DDP dropped his walking to the ring, leading Scott Hall to do it alone.

“Scott Hall and I were debuting him as The Diamond Studd. We go to Waffle House, and
as we’re leaving, they always had those toothpicks there. So I took them and I gave him one to Scott, and it hits me. I go, ‘Bro, I got a great idea! We’ll both have toothpicks in our mouth, and at the end, we both flick it right into the camera, it’ll be badass!’ He goes, ‘I love it!’.So I’m doing the promo and a toothpick in my mouth, and at some point it falls out of my mouth and I’m like, ‘No!'”
