Rob Van Dam Comments On Potentially Having Another Match In WWE

Rob Van Dam expresses his openness to having another match in WWE but notes that he doesn’t know how likely it would be.

WWE Hall of Famer Rob Van Dam has had successful stints in WWE throughout his career, and he has held the WWE Championship. He made a brief return to the company in 2023 as he was a presenter for the 2023 WWE Draft.

Speaking on 1 Of A Kind with RVD, the veteran was asked whether he might have another match in WWE.

“I really don’t know. I would totally be open to it,” Rob Van Dam said. “I don’t know what it would take for that to happen. So it’s possible that it would take me picking up the phone and telling them that I want to do this in order to start the fire. If that’s what it would take, chances are next to next to nothing that it’s gonna happen. If it doesn’t take them, if it took them calling me and saying,  ‘Hey, are you interested’, then it could definitely happen because the consort could take a turn down a lot better than I could.”

Rob Van Dam Looks Back On Previous WWE Run

Rob Van Dam then reflected on his previous WWE run and noted that he was just being used to get others over. He recalled how “the boss” told him there would be more of a plan for him if he came back. However, Van Dam expressed his concern about reaching out to WWE and getting turned down.

“In 2014, after my 88-match run in five months… I shouldn’t have been there, they had nothing for me,” Rob Van Dam said. “I was just another body there to get the other guys over, at the end of it, when I finally did express my feelings, one of the things that stuck out in my mind was that the boss said, ‘If you come back, that’s you to you. If you do, then we’ll make sure to have plans ahead of time. We’ll know what we’re doing. The whole time, we’ll know who you’re gonna work with at each pay-per-view, all the way until your way out.’

“That happened, and there’s not much that’s happened since then that would throw that off of the table. But I kind of assume I’m the only one that remembers the exact wording of that conversation, and I don’t think that it’s because of that, but it could be. Maybe he really meant it. Maybe it would take me taking a chance of them turning me down in order for it to happen, in which case that wouldn’t be healthy for anybody [laughs].”

In recent months, Rob Van Dam has made a few appearances for AEW. He is advertised for the April 20 taping of AEW Collision.
