Report: HOOK Plans To Explore Free Agency Amid WWE Interest

Hook could be on his way out of AEW.

The second-generation wrestler has been heavily featured on AEW TV since being signed in 2020. He first starred as “gum guy” in backstage skits during MJF‘s feud with Jon Moxley, before becoming a part of Team Taz.

ECW legend Taz is Hook’s father, making him a second generation superstar. He debuted against Fuego Del Sol on AEW Rampage in December 2021. Since then, he has rarely been defeated, recently beating Chris Jericho on an episode of AEW Dynamite.

However, his time in AEW could soon be over.

SEScoops reported that Hook (real name Tyler Senerchia) is exploring free agency later this year. His AEW contract is set to expire before the end of the year. Interest from WWE may have turned the youngster’s head.

They also reported that a WWE source claimed, “I can see WWE clearly being interested in him.”

New Signings Mean TV Time Could Be Limited For Hook

Despite being featured heavily over the past few weeks, TV time could be limited for Hook.

He is currently featured in a storyline with Chris Jericho, having beaten him in a singles match a few weeks ago. However, AEW have recently made some huge signings. Kazuchika Okada, Will Ospreay and Mercedes Mone have all joined the promotion in recent months.

They all command TV time, and the more they are featured, the less time Hook will have on TV. Given his age and the need for consistent time in the ring, AEW may not be the best place for his development.

Given talent like Shawn Spears and Brian Pillman Jr have left AEW for NXT, Hook could follow in their footsteps once his contract expires.
