Damian Priest comments on where he fits into the new era of WWE.
At WWE WrestleMania 40, Damian Priest cashed in his Money in the Bank contract and beat Drew McIntyre to win the World Heavyweight Championship.
At the WWE WrestleMania 40 Night Two post-show press conference, Damian Priest was asked to share his thoughts on where he fit into the new era of WWE, especially as seemingly everyone had their eyes on Cody Rhodes.
“Where we’re going, where we’re heading, have no idea. This new era of the company, I mean, everybody can feel it,” Damian Priest said. “Everybody can sense it. We’re on a rollercoaster, man. We don’t know where we’re heading. But this ride, it’s gonna take a minute. We’re cooking right now. All our sell-outs, the business that we’re doing, the amount of eyeballs, this is the hottest the business has ever been. Everybody likes to compare us to the Attitude Era.
“We’re doing some things the Attitude Era wouldn’t dream of. I’m proud to be one of the figureheads right now. With this [title], I solidify myself as one of the people that we’re gonna be looking at as to lead. That’s something that I’m humbled and proud of. So how do I keep myself here? The same thing I’ve been doing. Just be better tomorrow than I was yesterday.”
