Seth Rollins On The Shield: We’re Leading The Charge For The Next Generation

Seth Rollins is proud that 12 years after forming The Shield, the three men are still running the world of professional wrestling.

WWE World Heavyweight Champion Seth “Freakin” Rollins recently sat down with Cameron Hawkins of The Ringer. When asked about The Shield’s impact on the pro wrestling industry, Rollins believes all three men are exactly where they thought they would be over a decade after its inception.

“We were all using the Shield as a catalyst to take over the industry and to rebuild it in our image,” Seth Rollins said. “And if you look at where all of us are sitting right now, I think we’re exactly where we thought we would be in some capacity 12 years ago when we started this journey together.

“Mox is over in AEW being a revolutionary, trying to reframe everything in his image. Roman sits at the head of the table, as he believes he should, and here I am hustling, busting my ass every single week to try to make the future of the industry better. We’re leading the charge for the next generation and what the future of business is going to look like.”

Jon Moxley (Dean Ambrose) continues to lead the charge in another company

All Elite Wrestling has certainly changed things in the industry over the past five years, giving opportunities to those who believe WWE wasn’t utilizing them to the best of their abilities. With Jon Moxley leading the charge in the other company, Rollins believes having options only makes the industry stronger.

“I kind of don’t pass a whole lot of judgment on anybody if they think they’re not being used up to their potential,” Seth Rollins explains. “Having options for performers is only going to make the business stronger, and it’s only going to make WWE stronger.”

Even with Rollins’ current WWE contract set to expire in a few months, The Architect doesn’t think he’ll be slowing things down anytime soon.

“I’m about to be 38 in May, and I’m, like, right in my prime, like my mental and my physical are right in the perfect space,” Seth Rollins said. “And I think the next five years, especially, I’m going to be able to really, really hone it in and kick it into gear. But right now, dude, I’m having a great time.

“I’m getting to be able to be in the ring with guys who are extremely experienced and extremely good at what they do, and we’re all just elevating each other’s game. And so, like, I feel like this is easily the best version of Seth Rollins that we’ve seen so far. But with that said, I do think the best is yet to come.”
