Paul Heyman On His Managerial Legacy: I’m The Greatest Until There’s Someone Better Than Me

Paul Heyman looks back on his legacy.

With nearly 40 years of experience, Paul Heyman resides as one of the industry’s longest-running managers. Given his durability, in addition to his mastery of communication, many fans and pundits also consider Heyman to be the best wrestling manager of all time. How does Heyman view himself, though?

In a new interview with The Athletic, Heyman reflected on his contributions in the wrestling space. Through this, Heyman revealed that he too considers himself to be the best manager ever.

“Am I the greatest? I’m the greatest until there’s someone better than me,” Heyman said. “I would accept the moniker of being the GOAT because it pisses so many people off when I claim it. But in my heart, do I think I’m the best? Yeah, I do.”

“If I’m not the best, then I’m striving to be acknowledged as the best and accepted as the best every single time I walk out (to the ring), whether I’m the one talking or the one supporting the talker.”

Later this week, Heyman’s career will be honored as he accepts his official induction into the 2024 WWE Hall of Fame class. Other 2024 inductees include the likes of Bull Nakano, Muhammad Ali, and The U.S. Express (Barry Windham and Mike Rotunda).
