The Rock is returning to the ring at WrestleMania, and WWE wants him to wrestle again beyond that. However, they might have to wait a while.
At WrestleMania 40, The Rock will team up with Roman Reigns to face Cody Rhodes and Seth Rollins. This will mark his first official match since WrestleMania 29, as he competed in an impromptu bout at WrestleMania 32.
As previously reported, The Rock’s next movie is set to start filming in May and wrap up on August 1. This would likely prevent him from competing at WWE’s next show in Saudi Arabia, which is reportedly slated for May.
Dave Meltzer provided an update in the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter. He wrote that there are plans for The Rock to compete again after WrestleMania 40, but his filming schedule would prevent him from wrestling until WWE SummerSlam. Additionally, Meltzer notes that this would be challenging because he would have to train while on set.
The report states that there is currently no date for The Rock’s next match, and it depends on his movie schedule. Plus, Meltzer writes that Rock’s contract would allow him to move his dates around for a premium live event.
The Rock is set to appear on the March 15 episode of WWE SmackDown. WrestleZone will have coverage of the show as it airs.
