February 17 marks the five-year anniversary since WWE crowned Sasha Banks and Bayley as the inaugural WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions at Elimination Chamber 2019.
WWE celebrated the anniversary with a YouTube playlist looking at the different titleholders over the years. In response, Bayley retweeted the video link and noted that she fought for the titles and “more opportunity” for more than a year before they were introduced.
She also acknowledged her former tag team partner Sasha Banks and expressed her gratitude for their time together.
Over the last five years, there have been 24 different title reigns. As of this writing, current champion Asuka has the most reigns with four with three different partners. Shayna Baszler and Nia Jax currently hold the record for the combined days as titleholders.
Asuka and Kairi Sane are in their second reign together, but it remains to be seen when their next defense is.
