Matt Riddle is not surprised about the allegations against Vince McMahon.
On January 25, Janel Grant filed a lawsuit against Vince McMahon, John Laurinaitis, and WWE, in which she alleged that McMahon and Laurinaitis engaged in sexual assault and sex trafficking of her. McMahon has denied the allegations, but he has resigned from WWE and TKO, and he is now under federal investigation.
During an appearance on Sunday Night’s Main Event, former WWE star Matt Riddle was asked about Vince McMahon. He acknowledged the allegations and noted that he was not surprised. (H/t Ian Carey of F4WOnline.com for the transcription)
“When I’ve seen Vince do all the things he’s done from the 80s, 90s, early 2000s, everything, I was not surprised,” Matt Riddle said. “I mean, some of it, a little, but the guy’s a billionaire that owns a company and has probably done it all and seen it all and wants to do more and see more.
“I don’t know, I’m not a billionaire. I wasn’t the dude, Brock was the dude he was talking to or whoever else, it wasn’t me. I really have no comment other than that. I’m not surprised, I hear people say they are surprised, I’m not surprised, I mean, the guy was a maniac.”
Matt Riddle Reflects On Early Interactions With Vince McMahon
Matt Riddle then discussed his early encounters with Vince McMahon. He noted that he thought the former chairman initially did not like him because he was goofy.
“He thought I was goofy. If anything, the first time we met he didn’t like me because I was goofy,” Matt Riddle said. “He’s like, ‘you’re goofy,’ and I”m like, ‘yeah, I’m goofy but that’s a good thing’ and he’s like ‘being a goof isn’t a good thing,’ and I was like, ‘well, I’m a goof that can kick your ass.’ And then you could tell that didn’t make him happy and then Bruce Prichard hopped in and was like, ‘Hey Vince, he’s pretty good at wrestling, trust me.'”
WWE released Riddle, a former United States Champion, in September 2023. In recent months, he has wrestled for NJPW and MLW, among other companies.
