TKO Confirms Vince McMahon Resignation In SEC Filing

Paperwork has been filed to confirm Vince McMahon has stepped down from his respective roles in TKO and WWE.

TKO filed an 8-K form with the Securities and Exchanges Commission on Monday that confirms Vince McMahon tendered his resignation. McMahon announced he was stepping down from his roles in TKO and WWE. This was in response to a new lawsuit and allegations of sexual assault and trafficking against himself, John Laurinaitis and WWE.

From the SEC filing:

“On January 26, 2024, Vincent K. McMahon notified the board of directors (the “Board”) of TKO Group Holdings, Inc. (“TKO”) of his resignation from his positions as Executive Chair and a member of the Board, and any other positions, employment or otherwise, he has at TKO and its subsidiaries, in each case, with immediate effect as of January 26, 2024.”

McMahon’s statement

McMahon issued a statement on Friday night (via Deadline) and announced he was stepping down. Additionally, McMahon proclaimed his innocence, but said he was stepping down so that he was not a distraction to the company.

“I stand by my prior statement that Ms. Grant’s lawsuit is replete with lies, obscene made-up instances that never occurred, and is a vindictive distortion of the truth,” McMahon said in his statement issued to Deadline. “I intend to vigorously defend myself against these baseless accusations, and look forward to clearing my name. However, out of respect for the WWE Universe, the extraordinary TKO business and its board members and shareholders, partners and constituents, and all of the employees and Superstars who helped make WWE into the global leader it is today, I have decided to resign from my executive chairmanship and the TKO board of directors, effective immediately.”
