Road Dogg: Cody Rhodes Is Bringing Back Babyface, He’s A Good Guy Being Good

During his final days in AEW, Cody Rhodes was getting mixed reactions, if not outright booed, in some arenas. Now, in WWE, The American Nightmare is one of the most loved wrestlers. Rhodes is one of the top babyfaces in the promotion.

According to WWE Hall of Famer Road Dogg Jesse James, the former AEW TNT Champion is bringing back the original ‘babyface’ character.

During an episode of ‘Oh, You Didn’t Know…’, Road Dogg shared his thoughts on The American Nightmare. James mentioned that Rhodes is delivering heartfelt promos.

“To me, Cody is doing the ultimate babyface right now. And he’s almost—man, I’m going to give him a lot of credit here. I am, but gosh darn it, he deserves it. He’s almost brought back babyface,” Road Dogg explained.

He’s bringing back babyface

Road Dogg noted how John Cena was always a good samaritan character, but a majority of the crowd (unironically) chanted “Cena Sucks” at him. Cena taught Road Dogg about paying fans being right to chant whatever they want, but he still feels like some things are ill-advised.

“I don’t know, man. I want the good guy to be the good guy again, and Cody has brought that back. He doesn’t cuss. His promos are good and they’re heartfelt and they bring you in. And he looks in the camera and looks in your eyes and you feel like you’re touching base with him. He cuts a heartfelt promo, and you go like, ‘I hope he kills that guy.’ You know what I mean? ‘I hope he murderizes him.’ He’s bringing back babyface.”

Road Dogg also said Rhodes is such a nice guy that fans want to join in on his journey to finish his story. He believes pro wrestling is cyclical, and sees Cody as the one leading the charge to bringing back good guys being actual good guys.
