Kazuchika Okada: Hiroshi Tanahashi, Tomohiro Ishii, And I Will Carry NJPW On Our Backs

Kazuchika Okada looks forward to 2024.

Fans have been buzzing about the NJPW star’s future in recent weeks. Justin Barrasso of Sports Illustrated reported that Okada is set to be a free agent in January.

At NJPW Road to Wrestle Kingdom on December 21, Kazuchika Okada, Tomohiro Ishii, and Hiroshi Tanahashi retained the NEVER Six-Man Tag Team Championship. The trio beat Jeff Cobb, HENARE, and Great-O-Khan.

Kazuchika Okada shared his thoughts after the bout and stated that they would carry NJPW in 2024. (H/t Jeremy Lambert of Fightful for the transcription.)

“It might be too early to decide Match of the Year, but matches like this one is why these NEVER Sox-Man Tag Team Titles are gaining prestige,” Kazuchika Okada said. “We’re gonna keep defending these belts next year and heat up NJPW more than ever. We’re going to heat up both the singles and tag divisions, we’re not just limiting ourselves to tag matches. We can liven things up in a lot of ways. We’re gonna carry this place on our backs. We’re the team that can handle it.”

At NNPW Wrestle Kingdom 18, Kazuchika Okada is set to face Bryan Danielson. WrestleZone will have coverage of the show once it airs on January 4.
