The December 19 episode of WWE NXT ended with a controversial injury angle, and a new report provides an update.
Ridge Holland appeared on Tuesday’s show and stated that he wanted to redeem himself, as he alluded to the fact that he accidentally injured Big E in March 2022. Holland challenged NXT Champion Ilja Dragunov to a match, and they clashed in the main event. The match came to a sudden stop when Dragunov seemingly suffered an injury. Dragunov was then taken out on a stretcher. Given Holland’s history, the angle sparked plenty of criticism.
Corey Brennan of Fightful (via Fightful Select) reports that the storyline playing off of Holland’s history with Big E was “a bit controversial” among some in WWE. Brennen also cited NXT sources who noted that everyone seemed happy with the performance and the reaction the angle got.
