Athena has reached a special milestone.
At ROH Final Battle 2022, Athena defeated Mercedes Martinez to win the ROH Women’s World Championship. The event was held on December 10, 2022, and Athena still holds the gold one year later. As a result, she has become the longest-reigning women’s champion in ROH history, including the lineage of the Women of Honor World Championship.
Athena has defended the title against Mercedes Martinez, Leyla Hirsch, Angelina Love, Kiera Hogan, Skye Blue, Allysin Kay, and Willow Nightingale, among other stars. She is set to headline ROH Final Battle 2023 on December 15. There, the champion will defend her title against Billie Starkz.
Update: Athena later commented on the news by thanking her fans for believing in her and her trolls for motivating her. She also thanked Tony Khan before he expressed her hope to become the first triple crown champion in 2024.
Athena recently revealed that she broke her nose, but she intends to compete at ROH Final Battle.
WrestleZone will have coverage of ROH Final Battle as it airs on December 15.
