Dragon Lee will return to NXT at NXT Deadline.
At NXT Deadline, Dominik Mysterio was set to defend the NXT North American Championship against Wes Lee. Lee earned the title shot by defeating Johnny Gargano, Cameron Grimes, and Bronson Reed on the November 28 episode of WWE NXT. However, on the December 5 episode, Lee announced that he needed to have surgery, so he would be unable to compete.
Dominik came to the ring and mocked Lee before he stated that he would have the night off. Lee informed him that he still had a match, and Dominik’s father, Rey Mysterio, appeared on the video screen. Rey told his son that he would be at NXT Deadline to watch Dragon Lee, the man he called the future of lucha libre, challenge for the gold.
Lee then came to the ring and took the fight to Dominik. Dragon Lee moved from NXT to SmackDown in October, and his run on the blue brand has been successful so far. Rey previously cornered Lee for his match against Dominik on the August 8 episode of NXT.
Lee also faced Dominik on the September 25 episode of WWE RAW, where Dominik beat him to retain the title. At NXT No Mercy, Lee served as the special referee for Dominik’s match, where Trick Williams beat him to win the gold. Dominik regained the gold by defeating Wiliams on the October 3 episode of WWE NXT.
