Will Ospreay Reveals The Fear He Had Prior To AEW Full Gear Appearance

Will Ospreay felt a different type of fear for the first time at AEW Full Gear.

All Elite Wrestling‘s Will Ospreay recently sat down with Justin Barrasso of Sports Illustrated. When asked how he was feeling before he walked out to sign his contract at AEW Full Gear, Ospreay admitted to feeling a new type of fear at that moment.

“This was a new type of fear,” Will Ospreay said. “It was completely different from wrestling. Even if you’ve never seen me wrestle, I’m confident that I can do something dazzling and make you remember me. But I couldn’t do that at Full Gear.”

Ospreay admits most of the fear went away once his music hit, and the live crowd reacted the way that it did.

“As I was waiting, I asked myself, ‘What if people don’t know my entrance music, Elevated?’” Will Ospreay said. “Then, when Schiavone was talking, it went real quiet. That was scary. There was this murmur, then the music hit. That reception was truly overwhelming for me. People were genuinely happy to have me, and I felt it the moment the music hit.”

With the ink drying on Ospreay’s new All Elite Wrestling contract, he becomes the first performer to be under a contract with AEW and New Japan Pro-Wrestling.

“My contract with New Japan has not terminated yet,” Will Ospreay said. “That means I’ll be the first wrestler to be under a dual contract with AEW and New Japan, which is fun. I still need to have some sort of involvement in New Japan, especially with my faction United Empire. That is very important to me.

“I grew up in New Japan. I’m not ready to let it go. And I’ve been everywhere, and that’s because I’m constantly trying to better myself. I have this idea in my mind that I’ll grow stagnant with time off. I want to keep pushing. That’s what I am going to do.”
