CM Punk‘s return to WWE remains a hot topic in the wrestling world. A new report provides more information.
Punk, who left WWE in 2014, made his return to the company at the end of WWE Survivor Series. The move was kept close to the vest. Few in WWE knew about it, and the talent in the main event match were reportedly told shortly beforehand. Punk is a polarizing figure in wrestling, and fans have wondered how the WWE locker room feels about his return.
Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful (via Fightful Select) reports that, per sources, many WWE talent expect to speak with higher-ups and “gain some assurances” about Punk and how he will be in the company.
The report also notes that, on the AEW side, Tony Khan seemed more concerned about the beginning of Katsuyori Shibata’s absence on Saturday night than he was about Punk’s return to WWE.
Details On Reactions To CM Punk’s WWE Return
Per Sapp, the reaction to Punk within WWE has been more tepid than expected. Sapp compares it to Punk’s return to AEW this past June. He notes that both people in WWE and AEW had said they didn’t want to work with Punk. These individuals indicated that they would consider leaving. However, Sapp writes that there is no word of release requests from people in AEW and WWE connected to the situation.
Punk is set to appear on the November 27 episode of WWE RAW. WrestleZone will have full coverage of the show as it airs on November 27.
