AEW Full Gear 2023

Report: Identity Of AEW’s Latest Signee Seemingly Revealed

It finally sounds like we know who’ll arrive to sign their contract with All Elite Wrestling at AEW Full Gear.

Wednesday evening, All Elite Wrestling owner Tony Khan took to social media to announce that a new signee was coming to AEW Full Gear to sign a contract with the company, tweeting out:

“AEW has agreed to terms with one of the world’s best wrestlers, a pro who is known + respected by virtually every @AEW fan! They’ll come to LA to sign their contract THIS SATURDAY 11/18 on ppv at #AEWFullGear! See you TONIGHT on TBS for the final #AEWDynamite before Full Gear,” Tony Khan said in a post.

While speculation has been running wild, one name seems to stand out above others: IWGP United States Champion Will Ospreay.

Is Will Ospreay on his way to All Elite Wrestling?

According to Andrew Zarian on the Mat Men Pro Wrestling Podcast, Will Ospreay is the mystery signing.

“There’s only two names that it could be, and I don’t think it’s Mercedes,” Andrew Zarian began. “I was told Will Ospreay. Now, that is a big deal. A huge deal because WWE was actively pursuing him. It will make the fans happy. I mean, he is the wrestler of the year.

“Nobody has put on this level of matches — now I can think of Omega’s run in 2017 when I think of the level of great matches that could be possible. Tony’s exact words were respected by virtually all AEW fans, alluding to someone who was already on AEW TV before, which means Ospreay. I got a lot of shit people were like, if this was WWE, you wouldn’t ruin it, and I’m like, I’ve ruined a ton of stuff for WWE.

“And I don’t mean to ruin it; I’m having fun. I’m not a journalist. Why can’t I have fun on the internet anymore? I’m heavily leaning towards Ospreay. Listen, I could be wrong. I’m fine with that. I’m just relaying what was told to me.”

Isn’t Ospreay still under contract with NJPW?

While it’s been reported that Ospreay’s contract with New Japan Pro-Wrestling doesn’t expire until February, it’s possible that the two companies worked out a deal for a buyout to make this signing possible.
