Moose is looking forward to everything that the TNA name will offer. He believes this also includes a chance to compete in a Lockdown match again.
WrestleZone Managing Editor Bill Pritchard recently spoke with Moose about the TNA Wrestling rebranding. Moose was about if there are any specific elements of the old brand that he’d like to see return. The self-proclaimed Wrestling God said he’d like to see Elevation X happen, as well as the return of Lockdown.
Lockdown was the name of a TNA/IMPACT pay-per-view, as well as an eponymous match type. This twist on the steel cage match was featured on 12 Lockdown pay-per-view events, a few of which featured a whole card full of steel cage matches.
TNA has not hosted a Lockdown pay-per-view event since 2016, but Moose believes the rebrand is a good opportunity to see it return.
Bring back Lockdown
“We were supposed to have a King of the Mountain match pre-COVID, but [the pandemic] messed that whole idea up. That would be something I would like to see happen again,” he said. “Elevation X, I would like to see that come back, and obviously everybody’s favorite, Lockdown. I’m looking forward to the day we call a pay-per-view TNA Lockdown. That was probably my favorite as a kid watching — well, not a ‘kid’ because I was playing in the NFL when I was watching TNA. Lockdown was probably one of my favorite pay-per-views, so I’m excited to bring that back.
“It’s probably me and maybe six other guys in our locker room that’s been in a Lockdown match, so a lot of people don’t know what a Lockdown match is except for maybe myself, EY. I don’t think Eddie Edwards has been in one*,” Moose noted. “Frankie Kazarian, Alex Shelley, Chris Sabin, and myself are probably the only ones in the locker room that’s been in the Lockdown match.”
Moose believes there’s a good chance Lockdown will return. He says it’s a great match and he thinks fans would enjoy the concept, too.
“There’s a chance it’ll come back,” he noted. “With my tenure in IMPACT Wrestling — I came in when it was TNA and then switched to IMPACT Wrestling maybe a year into my tenure. I’ve been in two of those matches, Lethal Lockdown, so I would love to have that match come back. It’s definitely a great match, it’s a huge selling point for fans to get them to buy tickets, so that’s definitely a match I’m looking forward to to come back.”
