Trick Williams has returned to WWE NXT, but the identity of his attacker remains up in the air.
The October 31 episode of NXT marked the second night of NXT Halloween Havoc. In the main event, Ilja Dragunov defended the NXT Championship against Carmelo Hayes. The contest marked their trilogy match, as they previously clashed at NXT Great American Bash and NXT No Mercy.
The two rivals threw everything they had at each other in a heart-pounding contest that left fans on the edge of their seats.
In the closing moments, Hayes was setting Dragunov up for the Nothing but Net. However, Trick Williams’ music played, and his arrival caught Hayes by surprise. Dragunov took advantage of the situation and pinned Hayes with the Torpedo Moscow.
After the bell, Williams came to the ring and got in Hayes’ face. He was seemingly frustrated, and he got in Hayes’ face. But the confrontation was cut off, as broadcast panned to the back, where Baron Corbin had evidently attacked Dragunov.
Williams was taken out of a #1 Contender’s Match for the NXT Championship on the October 17 episode of NXT due to a backstage attack. Hayes went on to win that bout, and he has been accused of attacking Williams ever since.
