Last night was Night One of WWE NXT Halloween Havoc. It was a women’s heavy night, with the main event being the NXT Women’s Championship match between the champion Becky Lynch and challenger Lyra Valkyria.
The two Irish female stars had teamed with each other once before. But last night was the first time they fought each other in a one-on-one competition. Both stars gave everything they had but neither got the job done. In the end, Becky Lynch tried to go for the Man Handle Slam a third time but Valkyria counted it into a roll-up. As a result, Valkyria was able to pin The Man to pick up the win and capture the championship.
After that, Lynch showed great sportsmanship as she hugged Valkyria and seemingly passed the torch to Valkyria.
After the match, McKenzie Mitchell caught up with Lyra Valkyria.
“It doesn’t feel real. I feel like I can’t put it into words because when I was out there it felt like time was standing still and everything connected. It just felt like everything I had worked for… for nine years now, all came together. And I felt on top of the world because it felt like no decision I have ever made has been bad because all led to this… I think that I would live my entire life again just to feel what I felt holding this title up out there… I think in what we do, we would work our whole careers in hopes of feeling what I feel right now even once. And I think that I will be living in that moment for another nine years. Because I can’t explain how good it feels right now to be your NXT Women’s Champion,” Lyra Valkyrie said.
Lyra Valkyria gave it her best shot
After the interview, the newly crowned NXT Women’s Champion took to Twitter to reminisce upon her biggest achievement in WWE.
“I really dont think words can describe how i felt tonight.. But i gave it my best shot -your NEW NXT Womens Champion,” Lyra Valkyria tweeted.
It is to be noted that earlier in the night Chase University also became the new NXT Tag Team Champions.
