Lacey Evans Says She Didn’t Want To ‘Sniff Asses For Opportunities’ In WWE

Macey Estrella, formerly known as Lacey Evans, reflects on her time with WWE.

WWE signed Lacey Evans in 2016, and she had a memorable run with the company until her departure in August 2023.

Speaking on Road Trip with Teddy Long and Mac Davis, Evans commented on her background and recalled getting blindsided when she joined WWE. She was then asked whether the road was “a bit much” for her. She stated that she didn’t think WWE was for her, as she didn’t like the idea of running around red carpets and “sniffing people’s asses.”

“It wasn’t a bit much as far as I couldn’t do it,” Lacey Evans said. “It was a bit much as far as I don’t think that this was for me. I lasted seven years, I invested, [and] I made a lot of money. I’m a business owner. I own investment properties. I really sunk a lot of good money into making sure that I’m squared away. But my priorities, in comparison to a lot of professional wrestlers, are way different, night and day.

“I think I was blessed to start that business venture with an awesome husband, awesome relationship. I’ve already had a baby. I was a business owner making six figures before I even joined. I took a pay cut to be able to try to use the platform to make a difference for my community. It was a lot in that regard because my priorities and my idea of a perfect life was not running around in red carpets and sniffing people’s asses for opportunities. I’m not cut out for that unfortunately.”
