Report: New Name ‘Earmarked’ For Brian Pillman Jr. In NXT

NXT has teased Brian Pillman Jr.‘s arrival, but he might not use that name in the end.

WWE has been teasing Pillman’s debut in NXT for a few weeks, airing vignettes that hint at his father’s pro football and wrestling career. USA Network seemingly confirmed the former AEW star was coming to NXT, but a new report suggests he won’t be using the same name.

According to a new report from PWInsider.com, WWE recently trademarked “Lexis King” as a ring name. The word going around the WWE Performance Center is that this name is currently “earmarked” for Brian Pillman Jr.

Some have pointed out Pillman’s connections to the new name, as it is a likely tribute to some of his immediate family members. Brian’s sister Lexi (Alexis Pillman), passed away after a car accident in 2009. His mother, Melanie Pillman-King, died in June 2022. Furthermore, Pillman is credited as using the name “Alex King” when he first broke into the wrestling business.

The mysterious vignette first aired on the September 26 episode of WWE NXT. In the clip, an unidentified individual sits down in front of a TV. The person flips through a few channels. Clips of WKRC Cincinnati, the Cincinnati Bengals, and WCW played.

He was not named, but the video was a fairly apparent teaser for Pillman Jr. His father played for the Cincinnati Bengals before he ventured into the wrestling world. He also enjoyed several successful years in WCW.
