Kota Ibushi is excited to be wrestling for AEW.
Former NJPW star Kota Ibushi made his AEW debut on the July 19 episode of AEW Dynamite, where he teamed up with Kenny Omega and The Elite for the Blood & Guts match. Ibushi and Omega teamed up again at AEW All In. They will join forces with Omega and Chris Jericho at AEW WrestleDream.
Speaking with Justin Barrasso of Sports Illustrated, Kota Ibushi previewed the match. He stated that he looks forward to having a dream match with a new opponent, and he hopes the fans will soon know who that is.
“I hope to be able to play a role in deepening the connection between Japan and the United States,” Kota Ibushi said through a translator. “After that, I personally want to have a dream match with a wrestler I have yet to fight. Hopefully you will soon know who that is.”
Kota Ibushi: I Have Many Goals In AEW
Following Kota Ibushi’s departure from NJPW at the end of January, many fans buzzed about his potential move to AEW. However, it took until July for him to debut for the company. Now that he’s a few matches into his AEW run, Ibushi made it clear that he’s excited to be working with the company.
“I love Tony Khan and AEW, and I am excited to be here,” Kota Ibushi said. “I’ve told Tony this many times. He said that AEW is the best professional wrestling organization in the world, so I am really looking forward to being part of it. I have many goals to accomplish, including at WrestleDream.”
I want to do what I’ve always done, and that is attack new goals. There is a lot I want to accomplish in AEW.”
