Edge Removed From WWE SmackDown Opening Video

The buzz about WWE Hall of Famer Edge‘s potential WWE departure gained some more traction on Friday night.

During the September 29 episode of WWE SmackDown, Edge was conspicuous by his absence in the opening video for the show. He had previously been featured in the intro.

The move came after Edge was reportedly removed from WWE’s internal miscellaneous roster, per Mike Johnson of PWInsider. Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer stated that WWE and Edge were not close financially in their negotiations.

The 11-time world champion’s contract was set to expire at the end of September. As a result, he would be due to hit free agency on October 1. Earlier in September, he said he had an extension offer, but he was unsure about his future. Wade Keller of PWTorch reported that WWE sources believed that Edge was likely bound for AEW once his contract was up.

WrestleZone will monitor the situation and provide more information as it becomes available.
