IMPACT Wrestling Results – September 28, 2023

Welcome to WrestleZone’s live coverage of IMPACT Wrestling! This week’s show starts with a recap of last week’s IMPACT 1000 highlights.

X-Division Championship: Chris Sabin (c) vs. Alan Angels

Angles goes for a cover out of the gate. It doesn’t take long for Sabin to take back over and trap Angels in the bow and arrow stretch on the mat. Both men back up, Sabin hits a pair of hip tosses followed by an arm drag into a hold. Sabin goes for a boot, but Angels ducks and then pulls Sabin into the ropes. Angels leaps off the top with a stomp onto the left elbow. Sabin manages to drag Angels across the ring, but then Angels comes back with a Northern Lights Suplex.

Angels goes for another hold, but Sabin reaches the rope. Back up, Sabin chops away while Angels holds the other arm. Angels finally hits an armbreaker before Sabin comes back with a dropkick. Sabin pulls out a superkick followed by a single leg dropkick, cover. Angels spins Sabin into the mat face-first. He goes for a lock but Sabin rolls back into a cover. Forearm from Sabin allows separation.

Angels blocks a tornado DDT and instead takes Sabin down into an arm lock. Sabin’s foot reaches the rope to break again. Angels grabs the title but the ref takes it. Sabin is nearly sent into the ref but Angels sneaks in a low blow. He hits Halo Strike for a nearfall. Sabin fires back up with a missile dropkick from the top. He nails Cradle Shock for the win.

Winner: Chris Sabin (c)

A vignette for KENTA airs on the tron. He will return at Bound For Glory. 

Backstage, Shelley is interviewed and says he respects what Alexander has done. But he challenges Josh to step up to the plate at BFG.

Rhino vs. Jack Price

Lock up to start. Price throws a couple punches before getting ran over. Outside the ring, Rhino drops Price spine first on the apron before clobbering him with a clothesline. Back inside, Rhino chops and then clotheslines again. Corner spear connects. Rhino hits Gore for the win.

Winner: Rhino

Steve Maclin runs up from behind and attacks Rhino right after. Rhino throws a few punches back before tossing Maclin with a belly to belly. Maclin ducks out before Rhino can hit Gore. 

Backstage, Tasha Steelz discusses her return to the ring last week. She’s going to bring the flava every week. Deonna Purrazzo then walks up and welcomes her back officially. Tasha said it felt good to stand side by side with her. Deonna pitches working together. Tasha likes the idea. They agree to have each other’s backs.

Elsewhere, Alisha complains to Eddie about Impact 1000. Eddie says this is not over with Kazarian before Frankie did not beat him two weeks ago. Kaz walks up and agrees that he wants to put an end to this. Kazarian is going to talk to management about ending it properly.

Yuya Uemura’s goodbye

Joe Hendry and Yuya Uemura come down to the ring. Hendry says he has no regrets about teaming with Yuya despite him receiving the pink slip in Feast or Fired. Joe starts a “Thank You Yuya” chant. The Rascalz then interrupt and tease both of them. Trey starts the Goodbye song. Hendry said it’s true that he’ll be alone next week, but not tonight. A brawl breaks out until Santino comes out.

Santino Marella says this is why we can’t have nice things. He decides to book a non-title tag team match for right now. If JoYa wins, Yuya gets to keep his job.

JoYa vs. The Rascalz

Trey immediately tags out, but then so does Wentz. Yuya hits Trey with several arm drags and then a body slam. Wentz and Hendry become legal as Hendry chops the chest and then drops Wentz with a stalling suplex, cover. Wentz takes Yuya to the heel corner by raking his eyes. Rascalz double kick Yuya, but then Yuya counters with a double dropkick. Hendry spins Trey around but then shoves Hendry into Yuya. Wentz cutters Yuya in the ropes, Trey covers.

Wentz poses while pinning Yuya with a single foot. Trey tries to do the same thing. Trey then chops Yuya and tags out. Wentz continues to keep Yuya in their corner with stomps. Hendry gets the hot tag and manages to hit a double fallaway slam on Rascalz. Rascalz hit a double superkick and then double team Yuya. Trey whips Hendry into a kick. Wentz then hits a stomp for a nearfall.

Hendry nearly puts away Wentz but he kicks out. Yuya and Trey come in off the tags. Wentz runs in and takes out Hendry before Yuya clotheslines him and all four are down. One Hit Wonder connects on Trey. Yuya covers, but Wentz pulls Trey out. Hendry chases Wentz up the ramp. Behind the ref’s back, Trey low blows Yuya and sprays him in the eyes. Trey covers for the win.

Winners: The Rascalz

Gia finds Gisele Shaw to ask her about facing Trinity tonight. Shaw plans on walking out of BFG as Knockouts Champion after she wins tonight.

A vignette airs for The Design. Deaner promises to return to his throne, and it starts with Kon facing Josh Alexander.

Memphis Street Fight: Tommy Dreamer & Heath vs. Kenny King & Sheldon Jean

Jean and King meet Dreamer and Heath on the ramp as they start throwing hands. Heath takes on Jean and Dreamer battles King before the match is made official. Dreamer takes a swig of beer. They enter the ring and it officially starts. King and Jean double team Heath and send him spine first into the apron. King pulls out an old rusty ladder while Jean grabs a trash can. They put the ladder around Heath’s neck and run him into the ring post.

Back inside, King hits Dreamer with a spinebuster onto a trash can. Jean holds Dreamer up but Heath pulls King out of the ring. Heath hits King with a knee strike in the ring and then powerslams him but Jean breaks it. Wake Up Call on Jean connects. Heath grabs a table and props it in the corner. King hits a spin kick on Heath. Dreamer grabs the ladder and goes up top with King. Dreamer gets tripped and crotches himself on the ladder’s rungs.

King hits a blockbuster to capitalize. King evades Wake Up Call and then flies out to wipe Heath out. Heath and King battle to the back. Inside, Dreamer drives Jean through the corner table. Dreamer covers for the win.

Winner: Tommy Dreamer & Heath

Crazzy Steve runs up from behind and strikes Dreamer with his briefcase. Steve sends a warning and then holds the case over Dreamer.

It’s announced that Scott D’Amore will induct Tenay & West, while Gail Kim will induct Traci Brooks during the BFG pre-show.

ABC sends a message to The Rascalz after Bey won the tag team title shot briefcase. ABC pitches a Fans Revenge lumberjack strap match to John Skyler. Skyler points out that Hotch is MIA. ABC then tells Skyler to find a partner.

Jonathan Gresham vs. Mike Bailey

They shake hands and lock up to start. Gresham thought about chopping, but Bailey was in the ropes. Gresham applies a headlock and continues to take down Bailey into pinfall attempts. After the break, Gresham is sent to the outside. Bailey follows and unloads with kicks. Bailey hits a springboard twisting moonsault off the ropes. Back inside, Gresham picks apart the leg and turns it into a Boston Crab in the center. Bailey manages to crawl to the bottom rope.

Gresham tries for a suplex but Bailey keeps his feet planted. After several attempts, Gresham finally gets Bailey over into a cover. Gresham pivots to a headlock until Bailey elbows out. After trading covers, Gresham pins Bailey with a handful of tights.

Winner: Jonathan Gresham

Bailey is shocked and Gresham refuses to look at him after.

Backstage, Moose talks to Myers about holding the World title briefcase. Moose wants to get his feet wet in a singles match next week.

Maclin finds Bully Ray in the locker room. Bully says he’ll talk to PCO for Maclin, which makes Maclin question what’s led to Bully going soft.

Steelz vs. Kelly, ABC vs. Skyler & ???, a 10-person tag match, Alexander vs. Kon set for next week.

Trinity vs. Gisele Shaw

Shaw goes for a wrist lock but Trinity twists her way around and kicks Shaw to break free. Trinity hits the splits and covers. Shaw regroups for a moment before Trinity flies in with a forearm in the corner. Trinity delivers corner chops, then hits a low clothesline for a cover. Trinity hits a takedown and dropkick. Shaw rolls out to regroup with her squad. Trinity goes for another takedown, but Shaw counters and swings Trinity head-first into the steel steps.

Trinity barely beats the count-out before Shaw goes right for the cover. Shaw continues controlling the pace, throwing strikes and then stomping on the midsection in the corner. Shaw hits a pump kick and then taunts the champ before stomping on her head. Trinity finally starts her comeback with a kick followed by strikes. Two running clotheslines connect. Trinity hits a Samoan Drop, cover. Trinity lands the crossbody from the top, another cover. 

Shaw nails Shock and Awe for a nearfall. Shaw goes for a running knee strike, but Trinity counters into a cover. Trinity sends Shaw to the apron and then drives her face first into the mat, cover. Evans gets on the apron and Jai accidentally trips Shaw, thinking it was Trin. Trinity plants Shaw and then turns it into Starstruck for the victory.

Winner: Trinity

After, Evans ambushes Trinity until Mickie James runs down to make the save. She hits Vidal first and then slaps Evans. Trinity and Mickie both kick Evans until she falls out of the ring. They shake hands. Mickie grabs a mic and says she doesn’t need thanked because that’s what friends do. Mickie says she’s had her back since day one and always will. Mickie gets emotional talking about seeing Trinity win the title while she was out hurt. 

But, she’s never stood across the ring from her. Everyone knows Mickie didn’t lose the championship and she has a rematch clause she can invoke whenever. Mickie wants Trinity at Bound For Glory.
