Tony Khan says Wardlow is still very much in the fold with AEW.
Khan participated in a media call ahead of AEW WrestleDream on Tuesday, and he was asked for a status update on Wardlow. The former two-time AEW TNT Champion has been absent from AEW TV since June.
Khan said Wardlow will be back when it’s the right time and touted his accolades thus far.
“Sure, that’s a fair question. Well, Wardlow is a great star for us. I think he’s been one of the greatest TNT Champions we’ve had. He’s been a great star and I’m a big fan of Wardlow. I think that he will surely be back on AEW TV when the time is right. And he’s still very much a part of what we’re doing here.”
Wardlow’s last match saw him lose the TNT Championship to Luchasaurus on the debut episode of AEW Collision on June 17. The exact reason he has been sidelined remains unclear. He continued to make convention appearances over the summer. ‘Wardaddy’ has remained relatively quiet about his absence, aside from saying that he misses the fans.
