Zelina Vega made a promise, and she intends to keep it.
Vega lost her father during the attacks on September 11, 2001. She has previously stated that she made a promise to win a title in WWE in the hopes of honoring him.
During an appearance on Busted Open Radio, Zelina Vega commented on the emotional nature of September 11 for her. She emphasized that she believes her goal to win a title for her father has to become a reality, and she intends to make it happen.
“I genuinely believe that it has to,” Zelina Vega said. “There’s no reason that it shouldn’t. I had a dark match [on] Friday, and whether it was the dark match Friday, the live events on Saturday and Sunday, the crowd was so, obviously it wasn’t Puerto Rico high, but they were so high for me. I feel like a part of it was because of that, but it also was just then showing that they loved me for me.
“There’s just so much that you can ignore the people and what they want. I feel that if this continues that way, a decision’s gonna have to be forced at some point. It’s just on me to keep doing that I’m doing because there’s nothing else I can do. I’m gonna do it for him. I know I will.”
Zelina Vega Comments On Bray Wyatt’s Passing
Speaking with Steve Fall of of WrestlingNewsCo, Zelina Vega described how she believes Bray Wyatt’s supportive presence will live on after he passed away.
“I feel like the cool thing about listening to everybody’s stories about Bray is that there was always a common thread in everybody’s story. It was always his smile, his laugh. He had the best hugs,” Zelina Vega said. “He always had like these big bear hugs that you would just look forward to.
“I don’t want to say I’m a very affectionate person necessarily. But you look forward to those Bray hugs because you just knew that they were filled with so much — there was no bad bone in his body. It was met with such love. He was always looking to help people. Even if they weren’t in WWE, even if they were trying, we were all so passionate about just wrestling and being in and growing as characters and growing as people.”
