WWE had previously posted a video of Chad Gable reacting to his stunning loss against Gunther. The Alpha Academy star swore he would be the one to put an end to Gunther’s title reign because the champion made it personal by mocking his daughter’s tears.

“I swear to everybody and on myself and my career, that’s not the end. I’m taking the championship, that Intercontinental Championship, I want him to keep it as long as it freaking takes for me to get a rematch, because I am coming back for it, and I swear to God, I’m winning that championship,” Gable said.

Happy to be in the conversation

Gunther will track his success when it’s time but for now, he’s simply happy to be mentioned among all-time greats.

Imperium’s main man commented on getting closer to breaking Honky Tonk Man’s 454-day reign with the Intercontinental Championship during an interview with WrestleZone.

“I mean, it’s great, yeah. I’m not a big stats guy myself when it comes to that. Like most matches won, this, that, blah, blah, blah. It’s nothing really for me,” he noted, “but it’s very charming to be in those circles if that makes sense.

“But yeah, we’ll see. I have to get through Saturday first. I still have a little bit to go until I break that record,” he added. “I’ll focus on that when it’s time. Right now, I’m focused on tomorrow.”
