AEW Rampage Results (9/1/23): ROH Tag Team Battle Royal

All Elite Wrestling delivered an action-packed show with the September 1 episode of AEW Rampage.

Tonight, AEW will determine who Adam Cole and MJF will defend their newly won ROH World Tag Team Championships against at AEW All Out, when 10 tag teams will compete in a battle royale.

Those tag teams include former champions Aussie Open, Best Friends, The Hardys, Angelo Parker & Matt Menard, Action Andretti & Darius Martin, Gates of Agony, Dark Order’s John Silver & Alex Reynolds, The Righteous, Peter Avalon & Ryan Nemeth, and The Outrunners.

Additionally, Skye Blue and Willow Nightingale will team up to take on Taya Valkyrie and Anna Jay, while Hangman Page will face Bryan Keith.

The results are as follows:

Match 1: The Dark Order win ROH Tag Team Battle Royal

In a ROH Tag Team Battle Royal during Friday’s episode of Rampage, the Dark Order outlasted a large group of tag team talents. Things came to an end after Silver eliminated Best Friends’ Trent Beretta last to win the match.

Now, they will face Better Than You BAY BAY (MJF and Adam Cole) for the ROH Tag titles at All Out, which is set to take place on Sunday, September 3, 2023. After the match, Aussie Open attacked Chris Jericho at the commentary table, but Sammy Guevara rescued him.

Match 2: El Hijo del Vikingo & Nick Wayne defeat Kip Sabian & Gringo Loco via pinfall

Things came to an end relatively quickly, with Vikingo and Wayne looking rough to start before gaining some momentum late. After Vikingo hit Gringo with a big poinsonrana, Sabian got hit with Wayne’s World, and then Vikingo ended it with a big senton off the top ropes for the pin and win.

In another episode of QTV, Johnny TV asked Aaron Solo and Harley Cameron for the latest gossip, but when he didn’t like what they said, he said that he would be making some changes now that he’s in charge while QT Marshall is away defending his AAA Latin American Championship.

Match 3: Hangman Page defeats Bryan Keith via pinfall

Hamgman Page absolutely dominated Keith from the very start of the match, hitting him with big chops and punches early. While Keith would eventually get some hits in, he was no match at all for Page, who continued to chip away at Keith until he was able to win with a big buckshot lariat for the pin.

Backstage segment: Daddy Magic, Daniel Garcia, and Angelo Parker

Renee Paquette interviewed the trio ahead of their match against The Acclaimed tomorrow night on AEW Collision. The trio said that they are ready to shed Jericho’s burden off of them, and that Garcia said he might even consider going back to being a pro wrestler rather than just a sports entertainer.

Backstage segment: Roderick Strong

Paquette also spoke with Strong, who seemed angry with Adam Cole, saying that what he knows what he did and if no one else did, that’s too bad. Before Renee could get anymore questions in, however, Strong stormed off with The Kingdom.

Match 4: Willow Nightingale & Skye Blue defeat Anna Jay & Taya Valkyrie via pinfall

This was a back-and-forth match from the very start, with all four superstars going at it at various points in the match. Late in the bout, Blue got tagged in and began dominating, hitting a big diving crossbody on Jay for a near fall before hitting her with a big knee right after.

Luckily for Jay, Valkyrie was able to help distract things to keep them from losing early, but Nightingale quickly came to help and attack Valkyrie. After some more scuffling, Anna and Taya looked like they would get the brief upper hand when they hit a big dual superkick on Nightingale. However, Jay would accidentally hit Valkyrie with a kick after, and then Blue capitalized by hitting the Code Blue on Jay for the pin and win.

After the match, a clearly angry Valkyrie began attacking Blue. Willow came in for the save, though, and the duo celebrated their win as AEW Rampage ended.
